What is the difference between ephemeral and registered ranges?

Ephemeral defaults to 49152–65535; registered uses 1024–49151. Both avoid privileged ports below 1024.

Does the result guarantee the port is free on my machine?

No. The tool only applies range and exclusion rules. It does not probe local listeners—confirm availability before deploying.
