Encoding & Decoding

LSB Image Steganography Tool

Embed text into image pixels with LSB steganography and export PNG, or extract hidden text from a stego image. Differences are usually not obvious visually. Processing stays in the browser—suited to learning LSB basics and lightweight invisible marks, not strong cryptographic secrecy.

Use cases

  • Demonstrate how LSB steganography works
  • Embed a lightweight invisible mark in an original image
  • Extract text from an LSB stego PNG shared for learning

How to use

  1. Upload a PNG or JPEG carrier and enter text to hide
  2. Embed and download the stego PNG
  3. To extract, upload the stego image and run decode

Example input and output

Carrier + text

photo.png + "meet at 9"

Output

PNG with hidden payload (appearance largely unchanged)

FAQ

Why must the export be PNG?

LSB data lives in least-significant pixel bits. Lossy JPEG compression can destroy them; PNG preserves the payload.

How much text can be hidden?

Capacity depends on pixel count. Ordinary photos can hold short messages; oversized payloads are rejected with an error.
